Meet the Team
Ranked # 1 in the world in 1971 and 1972, Stan received international acclaim as a world-class tennis player known for his sportsmanship and courtesy. Winner of the US Open in 1971, Wimbledon in 1972, 4-time US Open Doubles Champion, and a member of 7 winning Davis Cup Teams, he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1987 and became its President in 2011. He was a founding member of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the USA Men’s Tennis Coach for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Stan’s worldwide fame extends to the fashion world with the legendary Adidas Stan Smith shoe (Sports Illustrated Podcast, New York Magazine Article). As Chairman of Stan Smith Events, Stan leads in setting the philosophy of the company and is the primary host of all events. Through his international reputation and affiliations he enables clients to experience exclusive opportunities.
Presently Stan is the Touring Professional for Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, SC, home of the Smith Stearns Tennis Academy. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club. He is a Trustee of Hilton Head’s Heritage Foundation which has raised more than $35 million for local charities. He and his wife, Margie, have four grown children and twelve grandchildren.
Gary's background has encompassed many aspects of sports which include being a world ranked touring tennis professional, Wimbledon competitor, Georgia Tech Assistant Men's Tennis Coach, and motivational speaker. As President of Stan Smith Events, Gary runs the day-to-day operations. He oversees the creation, sales, marketing, management, and hosting of corporate entertainment based around major sporting, partnership and business events. From Gary's relationships and travel worldwide, he is able to locate and acquire access to unique venues which bring an unparalleled experience to the attendees.
One of Gary's dreams since childhood has been to build a children's home. Over the past few years this has become a reality through La Casa de mi Padre in El Salvador. Gary and his wife, Teresa, enjoy investing their time mentoring engaged and newly married couples. Gary and Teresa live in Alpharetta, Georgia, with their daughters Sarah Gail, Lily and Sophia.
MOLLY KELLY STEEVES
Manager of Events
& Client Services
Molly began her career as Special Events Manager at a 5-star resort where she planned and collaborated on hundreds of events which included corporate groups, weddings, and visits by Presidents and dignitaries. She was also part of the team that coordinated the 2004 G8 Summit. In 2007 Molly joined Stan Smith Events and has enjoyed being surrounded by two of her passions – sports and event planning. A former tennis player and team captain for Hollins University, Molly continues to enjoy playing tennis along with traveling, cooking, and supporting the arts. She is involved with various Atlanta charities and non-profit organizations. In addition, she devotes time to her alma mater, Darlington School, through fundraising, and serving as a member of the Alumni Council and Leadership Darlington.
Senior Event &
Chris formerly worked at the American Junior Golf Association for 7 years prior to starting at Stan Smith Events in June 2014. While there, Chris honed his event management skills by directing premier national junior golf tournaments of the highest caliber. His position at Stan Smith Events gives him the opportunity to continue working amidst his passion, sporting events. He loves traveling the world and interacting with new clients at some of the world’s finest venues. A graduate of York College of Pennsylvania, Chris now lives in Atlanta with his wife, Kelli, and their dog, Coosa. When not at events, Chris stays active by playing in recreational soccer leagues and running with his wife.
Marketing and Events Administrator
Laura began her career in the Advancement Office at Berry College, working with fundraising and donor stewardship. She then moved to Atlanta to join ATi Tennis Academy, where she coaches some of the top juniors in the South and manages the academy’s marketing, finance, travel, and events. Laura joined the Stan Smith Events team in March 2014, where she thoroughly enjoys bringing her passion for sports, hospitality, and relationship-building together.
Laura was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, and came to the U.S. to play tennis for Berry College. She enjoys traveling, playing with her dog, Luigi, and playing spikeball with her friends.
Emily began her career as the Business Manager at the non-profit group Christian Youth Theater in Fredericksburg, VA. There she realized how she could blend her degrees and her love for people. Emily moved to Atlanta in August of 2016 and quickly found a home at Stan Smith Events. Emily graduated summa cum laude with degrees in Math and Computer Science from Mars Hill University. Emily lives in Roswell, Ga., with her husband of 15 years and 3 children. Having played soccer on the college level, she enjoys all sports, especially watching her kids play! She has also enjoyed training others as a certified Spinning instructor for over 10 years. Additionally, she enjoys being involved with live theater and spending time with her friends and family.
Executive Office and Events Administrator
Alice began her career working in the office of the Vice President at the White House, directing the public appearances and events for Marilyn Quayle. In 1993, she moved to Atlanta where she joined the effort to stage the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games. While serving on the Paralympic organizing committee, Alice oversaw protocol and hospitality operations for the second largest sporting event in the world in 1996. Building on those experiences, Alice transitioned into various marketing and advertising roles at MCI, the Coca-Cola Company and Cox Interactive Media. In the office, Alice serves in a variety of roles to support the team as they achieve great results for our clients. Alice lives in Roswell, Georgia with her husband of 20 years and 3 children. She is an active volunteer in the community, serving her kids’ schools and sports leagues, as well as Roswell Presbyterian Church and the National Charity League. Alice enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, as well as watching sports and playing league tennis. A Virginia native, Alice graduated from the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA.
With a background in event management, accounting, and human resources, Esther joined Stan Smith Events in April 2019. The opportunity to merge her love for event planning and live sporting events made for an easy decision to step into her role on the team. Her previous work in planning and executing large-scale conferences and stadium tour events has allowed her to fuel her passion for travel and to experience different cultures and communities both nationally and internationally. Esther grew up in Atlanta and attended The University of Georgia. She loves her hometown but is always looking for an excuse to use her passport and to explore a new city or country. When not at work or traveling, you will find her with friends or at a kids/juniors golf tournament cheering for one or all three of her nephews.
