Ranked
#1 in the world in 1971 and 1972, Stan
Smith received international acclaim as a world-class
tennis player. Winner of the U.S. Open in 1971, Wimbledon in
1972, a member of 7 winning Davis Cup teams and major doubles
titles, he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of
fame in 1987.
Stan has stayed active in the world of tennis as a color commentator
on network and cable television, including Wimbledon coverage
on NBC from 1987 to 1992. Since 1994 he has worked with the
United States Tennis Association as an Associate Director and
Coach in the player development program. In 2000, he was appointed
as coach of the U.S. Mens Tennis team for the Olympic
Games in Sydney, Australia. He has worked with corporations
in creating and hosting events and hospitality programs for
the past 25 years. Stan and his wife Margie have four kids,
two boys and two girls. |
